This is one of the more complete walkie-talkie sets from Alecto. Where most walkie-talkies have a range that varies between 3 and 7 kilometres, the FR300 is distinctive to others by covering a distance of up to 10 kilometres. Furthermore, the FR300 IPX7 walkie-talkie set is equipped with VOX control. No hassle with buttons: talk into the microphone and the walkie-talkie switches on automatically.

The FR300 has 16 channels, plus 38 CTCSS codes. CTCSS (Continuous Tone Controlled Squelch System) is a noise reduction system. It makes it possible to share a radio channel with multiple users, without experiencing interference. An inaudible code is sent when transmitting through the IPX7 walkie-talkie. Only when the tone code of the sending handset matches the tone code of the receiving handset, the receiving handset will display the signal. This prevents you from being interrupted by other transmitting equipment that communicates on the same channel.

First, it is waterproof to the IPX7 standard. This means the walkie-talkie is set to withstand splashes of water, rain or snow, showering and even incidental exposure to water up to 1 metre deep, for up to 30 minutes.

If you accidentally drop the walkie-talkie in the water, that is no problem. It floats and, combined with its striking orange colour, makes it easy to get hold of again. Finally, the FR300 is equipped with a torch that starts flashing an SOS signal as soon as you hit the water.

Het Kan Niet Zo Moeilijk Zijn

Ik heb alles bij één zes portofoons van Alecto (model FR300xx) en vier van Motorola. Allemaal bedoeld voor "buitensport". Onder ca. 12 graden functioneren de Motorola's niet meer: boven ca. 28 graden functioneren de Alecto's niet meer. Bij de Motorola's komt er gewoon geen piep meer uit; bij de Alecto's doet de PTT het niet meer of wordt onbetrouwbaar. Er ligt dus wel nog een kans voor iemand die een walkie-talkie kan produceren die het daadwerkelijk doet bij minus tien en ook bij dertig graden. Voor de rest zijn het allebei prima producten: liggen lekker in de hand, goede geluidsqualiteit, voldoende bereik (zeker voor de roeisport), waterdicht (maar houden niet van de regen; dan gaan lampjes branden ed.). Preis/qualiteit verhouding prima maar zorg dat ze wel betrouwbaar functioneren over een temperatuurbereik dat toereikend is voor buitensporters die zowel 's winters als 's zomers aktief zijn.
